Gata de Gorgos is already preparing for a new edition of one of its most important cultural events. Art al Vent, the renowned international outdoor textile art exhibition, will celebrate its 23rd edition this year with an important change: a new exhibition route.

Due to improvement works currently taking place along La Bassa Street, the traditional venue of the exhibition, the Department of Culture of Gata Town Hall has decided to relocate the event to a new route that will preserve both its visual impact and accessibility. Visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibition from Church Square, along Doctor Gómez Ferrer Street and Constitución Street, finishing at Plaza Nova.

Before making this decision, the organising team evaluated several alternatives to find the most suitable location. The main goal was to preserve the unique essence of Art al Vent, where textile artworks hang from balconies and façades, blending with the town’s architecture and transforming the streets into a large open-air gallery.

The international reputation of the exhibition continues to grow every year. During the previous edition, 87 textile pieces from 20 different countries were displayed, confirming Art al Vent as one of the most important textile art events in the region. For the 2026 edition, more than 100 applications were received, with around 90 artworks selected to participate in the exhibition.

During May, the selected works will be officially presented for the preparation of the exhibition catalogue, which will include all participating pieces. At the same time, the Department of Culture is finalising a programme of cultural activities that will accompany the exhibition throughout July.

Following the positive results achieved in recent years, the organisers have decided to maintain the event during the month of July. This strategy aims to encourage tourism outside the peak summer season while offering visitors more comfortable temperatures to enjoy the exhibition.

Art al Vent 2026 will officially open on Friday, 3 July, once again transforming Gata de Gorgos into an international cultural landmark where art, tradition and creativity come together in a truly unique setting.
