We already have the Festivities of Gata here!🎉
Every year, at the end of July, the town is filled with joy, people, festival music and concerts, lunches and dinners with friends, festivities and religious events. This year, the festivities of Gata will take place from July 28 to August 6, the Day of Santísimo Cristo Calvario and patron saint of the town.
THURSDAY, JULY 27 – First day
The festivities begin with the descent of the Holy Christ, who spends the whole year in the Hermitage of Calvario and who on the first day of the festivities is carried on the shoulders to the village church accompanied by “the dulzainas and the tabalets”.
Later, at 10 p.m. and in the Plaza Vieja, the proclamation that will officially start the festivities will take place.
FRIDAY JULY 28 – FESTIVAL DAY
The night of the 28th will be held the festival that will present the fifth and fifth of that year along with the fifth and fifth children. Then there will be a Talent Show and later you can dance with the mobile disco that will take place in the old football field.
In the following days you will be able to enjoy the release of bulls and heifers, the night of correfoc, popular dinners in all the streets, activities for children, floats on the 30th with the funniest costumes and also concerts and festivals like La Tribu, who will come to sing on the afternoon of August 2, Day of the Quintos.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6
The festivities always end on August 6, when the Holy Christ returns on his shoulders to the Hermitage again in a solemn procession accompanied by the Gata music band.
The procession begins at 7:30 p.m. from the Plaza de la Iglesia and the whole town goes out to see it. At the end of the procession, you can enjoy a fireworks display that will mark the end of the festivities until next year.
