Art al Vent: The Art hanging in the Streets of Gata

Every summer, the streets of the historic center of Gata de Gorgos are transformed into an open-air art gallery thanks to Art al Vent, the most important international exhibition of artistic textiles in Spain. Dozens of art shawls hung from the town’s balconies, brought in from all over the world, fill the streets of Gata with color, emotion, and creativity.

This 2025 marks the arrival of a new edition packed with surprising artistic offerings that engage with the town’s traditional architecture, its ancient facades, and the peaceful pace of the people.

But visiting Gata during Art al Vent isn’t just a cultural experience, but also a perfect opportunity to discover local businesses, those that keep the town’s essence alive. Between each piece, you can stroll through our shopping streets, buy a piece of locally made pottery, a traditional sweet from the bakeries, a esparto grass basket, or try a handmade cured meat from our butcher shops.

It’s also the perfect excuse to have a hearty lunch, dinner, or snack at the local bars and restaurants, which always offer menus and dishes full of flavor and authenticity. And to finish (or cool off!), you can’t leave without stopping by Ca La Tramu and trying their famous lemon granita, made with the same recipe for over 100 years, or one of their artisanal ice creams, full of flavor and history.

Art al Vent is an invitation to look up, to walk slowly, to let yourself be carried away by art… and by village life. And Gata is the perfect place to do it.

From June 27th to July 20th, come enjoy Art al Vent, the local shops, and discover why Gata is a luxury.
